Canon R7 and A1 Sample Images

The images below were taken with the R7/RF100-400 and A1/100-400GM lenses are the same location and within a few minutes of each other.

You can download the full resolution images and the RAW files from the provided links to do your own comparisons.

Note the following:

JPG images from the R7 are exported from DPP and have no additional DeNoise processing.
The A1 images have been exported from DxO Photolab 5 and have had Deep Prime denoise processing applied.
The A1 images are uncropped and because it is a full frame sensor the field of view is wider than the field of view on the R7's cropped sensor. Some of the A1 images are shown in a larger frame below to more or less match the subject size in the R7 image.
The subjects are at more or less the same distance from the cameras so zoom the A1 image until the bird is the same size as those in the R7 image and then compare them.
The R7 image has higher pixel density and as a result shows more detail at the same focal length - better still than even the a7riv 60mp sensor would.
In practice I would use a longer focal length with the A1, e.g. 600mm and fill the frame the same amount as the R7. In this case the A1 images would have more pixels on the subject and more detail would be visible.

The A1 images have been set to a frame width of 2000px and the R7 images to a width of 1236px to represent the 1.6 crop factor. As a result you may need to scroll around the A1 image to better align the subject.
